Britomart-based creative indie agency Shine has launched a new Spark campaign that aims to celebrate New Zealand “as the best place on the planet to do business”.

The work appears in digital, billboards, social, radio and TV. ECD Chris Schofield says it draws on unique qualities such as the legendary Number 8 fencing wire mentality, strong perseverance (critical to being so geographically isolated) and “some hard mahi”.

The 60-second video takes viewers to a range of New Zealand business environments, from the Whitestone Cheese factory in Oamaru to The True Honey Co’s remote hives, and KiwiRail as it keeps the New Zealand economy moving.

“We join Eat My Lunch in their Auckland kitchen and we meet Waikawa Fisheries in the Marlborough Sounds,” says Schofield. “At the end, we see Rocket Lab launching a rocket over Mahia Peninsula.

“The segment highlights the unique Kiwi qualities that each business is equipped with as they all look for a little edge that’ll take their business further.

“If we can help them find that edge, it will add up to something huge.”

Labelled Business Edge, this is the next chapter of Spark’s Little Can be Huge brand platform. “It draws on emotional storytelling to bring to life the idea that there’s over half a million businesses in New Zealand, all looking for the same thing, a little edge, the little advantage that will help them succeed,” said Spark business communications manager Sally Gordon.

“And if we can help all of them find that edge, it will add up to something huge.”

Sally Gordon, says this is the first time Spark has delivered a campaign aimed at simultaneously engaging with small, medium, enterprise and government business audiences.

“We are excited to showcase Spark business customers and celebrate how awesome they are, by featuring the passionate people who are involved and how Spark connects these businesses to help them find their edge,” she said.

“We hope Kiwi businesses come away with a sense of pride and the knowledge that Spark is committed to supporting every Kiwi business reach their full potential.”
