New GM at Discovery NZ

AUCKLAND, Thursday: Discovery NZ has made half a dozen key appointments within its commercial division. Jas Gierlinski who has been appointed general manager – agency, responsible for TV and digital revenues across a large agency group. 

Gierlinski joins Discovery NZ after a successful seven years as group business director at PHD, working with a number of local brands. 

Dan Roberts has been engaged as agency group account director. Roberts began with Discovery NZ in January, working across a large agency portfolio.

He recently returned to New Zealand after five years in London, most recently as AV Director at Dentsu and worked at FCB NZ prior to going overseas.

Nick Marquet has been appointed account manager – direct. He joins the newly formed Discovery NZ Direct sales team bringing extensive experience in media sales, having worked in the UK, Australia and New Zealand for multiple major media companies.

Agency account director Sarah McPhail joins Discovery NZ on Tuesday 9 February. She has experience in TV sales, previously working at both Sky TV and TVNZ.

Nadia Murrell and Sarah McDonald have also recently started their media careers, joining Discovery NZ in January as sales coordinators.

Discovery NZ head of sales Donna Gurney said: “To welcome so much incredible talent into our business at one time has given us a huge shot of energy to kickstart the year, particularly as we commence such an exciting phase of our business journey.”

Jas Gierlinski said: “I’m thrilled to begin a new chapter with Discovery NZ and add to the experience of an already high-achieving team.
