AUCKLAND, Today: PHD Group New Zealand has rebranded its Spark PR & Activate agency following an expansion of its service offering, unveiling the agency’s new identity, Drum, at a launch party in Auckland last night.

Drum MD Dallas Gurney said: “Along with the new name comes a new ethos of helping ambitious brands create and influence popular culture.”

Gurney said the new brand identity reflects the evolution of the agency’s offerings, expertise and energy.

“Spark PR & Activate has evolved so much that the name no longer reflected the breadth of what we do,” she said in a press release, out this morning.

“We are so much more than a PR and activations agency. We now do everything from writing children’s storybooks, creating cost-effective creative and native advertising solutions, producing video content, managing brand partnerships and curating social platforms as well as traditional media relations, events and activations.

“The agency has changed significantly over the years but the name hadn’t, so our new brand reflects and celebrates everything that we now do for brands.”

“Drum NZ joins OMG’s international Drum network – specialist content agencies with offices in London, Sweden and Copenhagen.”

Drum New Zealand joins Omnicom Media Group’s international Drum network – a group of specialist content agencies with offices in London, Sweden and Copenhagen.

Gurney says the move will strengthen the agency’s capabilities even further. “We have broadened our global network to include Drum’s specialist content and creative services, where we can plug into the skills and knowledge from experts at the forefront of international trends and best practice. Although our offerings are slightly different, we share the same vision and dedication to great ideas and creativity. This is a very exciting time for the Drum team and our clients.”

Since launching in 2000, Spark PR & Activate has built an impressive client portfolio of 40 global and local brands, including Spark New Zealand, HP, DB Breweries and Lotto NZ, among others. The agency also has a notable string of local and international award wins, including being named 2018 M&M Global PR Agency Network of the Year.

Nikki Grafton, PHD Group ceo, said: “This is a new era for Drum and PHD Group. The team has achieved great success over the years and although they have a new name and look, the agency’s dedication to its clients and creating locally and globally recognised work remains unchanged. We are extremely proud of the depth and breadth of the Drum team and look forward to further success in 2019 and beyond.”

The rebrand has been a team effort involving the talent of the agency’s 25 staff (“Drummers”), each of whom have played an integral role in managing its development and execution. The launch event, hosted at Shed 10, saw over 250 guests in attendance.
