SINGAPORE, Thursday: New Zealand has won three Grands Prix – plus two heavyweight Special awards at the Spikes Asia.
The Special gongs went to Special Group NZ (named Independent Agency of the Year), and DDB Aotearoa (New Zealand Agency of the Year).
NZ’s Grands Prix went to Special Group NZ (the Integrated Grand Prix for Tourism NZ Good Morning World; DDB Aotearoa (the Grand Prix for Good for the NZ Aids Foundation Sperm Positive, and Colenso BBDO (the Healthcare Grand Prix for Spark Play.
Australia headed the global Grands Prix with nine, followed by Japan with four and New Zealand and Thailand with three.
DDB Group Aotearoa ceo Justin Mowday said: “We’re incredibly proud to be named Spikes Asia New Zealand Agency of the Year, particularly in a year when Aotearoa was recognised as the second most creative country in all of Asia.

The Golds
All up, New Zealand won 47 awards at the Spikes – the second-highest total in the region, after Australia (with 78).
Australia scored 20 Gold Spikes, while New Zealand picked up 10 – shared by Colenso BBDO Auckland, Special Group Auckland, and DDB Aotearoa, with 3 apiece. TBWA\Auckland scored one gold.
