AUCKLAND, Today: Just two days after revealing its big new partnership with Trade Me, Stuff Digital Ltd has named a new Managing Director — and it’s someone who once managed the current boss.

Owner and Publisher Sinead Boucher says she’s thrilled to welcome Nigel Tutt back to the fold, more than a decade after he helped drive one of Stuff’s biggest growth periods.

“Nigel is a hugely experienced digital media, marketing and technology leader who has a striking combination of skills for this next era in Stuff Digital Ltd,” she says.

“When he led what was then Fairfax’s digital business where I was Stuff Editor, he spearheaded significant revenue and audience growth through sharp commercial skills and a deep understanding of what Kiwis want.

“Since then Nigel has gone on to lead one of the country’s best digital marketing and customer experience companies Affinity ID, which had Countdown and Kiwibank in its customer base before it was acquired by Publicis Groupe.

“That unique mix of data, customer and commercial experience is exactly the right combination for Stuff Digital with its new Trade Me partner, as we look to collaborate on new opportunities together.

“And,” she adds, “he was a pretty awesome boss too.”

More recently, Tutt was CEO of Priority One, working to boost economic development in the Western Bay of Plenty — his home region. He says he’s been watching Stuff’s transformation under Boucher’s leadership with admiration, and is stoked to now be joining that journey.

“Under Sinead’s leadership, Stuff has gone from strength to strength, forging the leading position in independent media and making bold moves at a time when the industry needs it most,” Tutt says.

“Now it’s ready for its next era — one I am hugely excited to play a part in — helping all of its talented people to flourish so that they can continue to have a positive impact in the lives of New Zealanders.”

Tutt starts in August and will report to the new Stuff Digital Ltd board, chaired by Boucher and made up of reps from both Stuff Group and Trade Me.
