AUCKLAND, Today: Aotearoa has produced world-class female athletes, but women’s sport still doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. Less coverage, lower funding, and fewer resources mean girls are twice as likely to drop out.
In 2025, 2degrees is stepping up its support for women’s sport through its ‘Fighting for Fair’ platform. Building on last year’s viral Aupiki TikTok final, TBWA has launched the SupportHER Club.
The SupportHER Club is all about championing girls and women in sport, encouraging them to keep playing, stay connected, and feel backed from the sidelines all the way to the top.
“This campaign is designed to flip the script and give women and girls in sport the backing they need to thrive. Sport is so much more than competition,” says Shane Bradnick, Chief Creative Officer at TBWA\NZ.
“It’s about finding your people, growing your confidence, and experiencing the pure joy of the game. With the SupportHER Club, we see this as a rich territory to ensure every girl feels they have that chance.”
At the heart of the campaign is an emotional AV spot that follows a young girl’s first team sport experience. It captures the nerves, joy, and sense of belonging that sport can bring.
“At 2degrees, we believe fairness should extend to every aspect of life – including sport.” – Anna Gorman
Narrated by rugby star Katelyn Vaha’akolo, the film reminds viewers that sport isn’t just about winning. It’s about building confidence, resilience, and friendships that can shape lives well beyond the field.
“At 2degrees, we believe fairness should extend to every aspect of life – including sport,” says Anna Gorman, Senior Sponsorship & Community Manager at 2degrees.
“Women’s sport deserves equal recognition, support, and investment, and the SupportHER Club is about taking real action to drive change. By backing women and girls at every level, we’re helping to create a future where talent, passion, and dedication are what matter most – not gender.”
The SupportHER Club acts as a central hub for all 2degrees women’s sport initiatives — from partnerships to practical tools for coaches, parents, and anyone helping shape the future of girls in sport.
The campaign will run across March on TV, social, VOD, digital and OOH, designed to make sure the message reaches and inspires as many people as possible around the country.
With grassroots organisations already doing the hard mahi, 2degrees is proud to support their efforts. Because when we back women’s sport — we’re not just levelling the field. We’re all better for it.
