AUCKLAND, Sunday: Enthusiastic Kiwi headline writers on the weekend papers had a field-day, with the countdown to the Black Caps epic unfolding in London. As you’d expect, dubious puns abounded.
“You Kane do it it!” exulted the 120-point headline on the front page of the Weekend Herald.
The editors liked it so much they couldn’t resist a repeat (in 90pt) on the front page of the Sport Section: “Yes, we Kane sock it to the England side”.
The Sunday News nailed it nicely with “Back on the Kane gang”.
