AUCKLAND, Today: The Spinoff has named journalist and newsroom leader Veronica Schmidt as its new Editor, taking over in November from Madeleine Chapman. Schmidt will be the fourth editor in the outlet’s 11-year history.

With more than 20 years in New Zealand and UK media, Schmidt has built an impressive career. She launched RNZ’s award-winning InDepth team, led digital news at TVNZ, and written for The Times, Metro, The Listener and more.

The Spinoff CEO Amber Easby says the appointment marks an exciting new chapter for the independent media company.

“We are thrilled to welcome a leader of Veronica’s calibre to The Spinoff,” said Easby. “Her track record in building and leading high-performing teams is exceptional.
