AUCKLAND, Monday: Following a pitch, SailGP (Sail Grand Prix) has appointed Grey Lynn creative indie True as their New Zealand advertising and design agency for their fourth season of the global racing championship.
It is unclear if there was an incumbent agency.
SailGP APAC commercial director Karl said: “Founded in 2019 by Larry Ellison and Russell Coutts, SailGP is a whole new kind of racing. The world’s fastest-growing sports and entertainment property,
“SailGP sees state-of-the-art F50 catamarans fly at speeds of up to 100km/h in impossibly close-to-shore races. The league’s fourth season includes 12 stops in iconic venues around the world, featuring a first-ever event in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.
“The event follows the success of SailGP’s sold-out debut in Christchurch this March.
“Throughout the proposal process, we felt enormous synergies with the True team. Their understanding of our ambition to take SailGP to new heights was innate.”
“SailGP will be working with True to launch their season 4 campaign in New Zealand, centred around the Auckland event and bringing the SailGP brand to more audiences in the region.

“This is the season where SailGP races ahead, getting people around the world hooked on this new category of racing. We’re thrilled to have True with us on that journey.”
True ceo Matt Dickinson said: “We’re excited to be working with the local and global SailGP teams to bring this event to life.
“Auckland has always been known as the City of Sails, but we’ve never seen sailing quite like this.”
The Auckland event will take place on Mon & Fri – March 23-24, 2024.
