Urbis Designday 2015 – held last Saturday & Sunday at 20 mind-blowing design outfits that pepper the Auckland city fringes – played out to around 1300 design tourists, mostly Kiwis who work in the sector.
The two-day event was run at 15 venues, with over 40 creative people from different design disciplines creating the various installations on show.
Guests were chauffeured around the circuit by a 25 special Designday taxis.
“After a break in 2014 it was great to see design professionals and the public alike getting back on board this event in such healthy numbers,” said Nathan Inkpen, publisher at AGM/Urbis and the architect of Designday.
“The creativity and passion of the design community never ceases to inspire me and our team.
“Designday was split over two days this year, a professional day on the Friday and a combined day for public and professionals on the Saturday. This revised format certainly seems like the way forward for 2016.
“A huge thanks to our presenting partner Resene and our strategic partners MINI, Microsoft Surface and Satellite Tag. The great thing about the sponsors is the way they embrace the event and are part of the day.
“With their own creative partners and installations; this really embeds their DNA on the event.”
