Viceland (Sky channel 13) has launched an on-air and social media campaign aimed at giving young voters across New Zealand a chance to voice their opinions ahead of the election.
With less than two weeks to go until the election, 34% of 18-24 year olds are still not enrolled to vote (according to a release from Vice). That’s a third of young people who could be missing out on the chance to have their say about their future. By contrast, more than 97% of New Zealanders over the age of 55 are enrolled to vote.
Filmed across Hamilton, Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, the Viceland NZ Census features 70 young New Zealanders between the ages of 18-35. Each answering 40 questions on what it means to be a young person in New Zealand in 2017.
Key issues include: housing, immigration, university, drugs, equality, the environment, and the electoral candidates.
