Wellington just became your campus

AUCKLAND, Today: Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington has teamed up with EightyOne to launch a fresh new campaign that positions Wellington as the place to be for students across Aotearoa.

For school leavers, deciding what to study is huge — but where you study can shape your entire uni experience from day one. It’s not just about lectures and labs.

While your chosen subject might evolve, the city you live in has an instant effect on your lifestyle, social circle, and mental wellbeing. And Wellington? It delivers on all fronts.

Te Herenga Waka offers a top-tier education, plus career-launching connections. But what really sets it apart is Wellington’s friendly, vibrant, and culturally rich vibe.

The uni’s three campuses are woven into the heart of the city, giving students easy access to everything Wellington has to offer while making the transition from high school to city life that little bit easier.

The national campaign Make Wellington Your Campus stars real students in real Wellington hotspots — from Cuba Street to Mt Vic to Island Bay — all beautifully shot by photographer Steve Boniface.

It highlights how life outside the lecture hall plays a major role too, blending study with culture, community, and everything in between to create a richer student journey.

“With Te Herenga Waka at the heart of the city, students don’t just attend university—they become part of a vibrant, diverse community that inspires them every day, and find their sense of belonging,” said Kate Baker.

“This campaign gives our future students a taste of what their Wellington student experience will be when they arrive in 2026,” she added.
