Mumbrella’s annual BEfest Awards – Australasia’s only awards programme dedicated to recognising branded entertainment (and the way in which brands are using it connect with consumers beyond traditional advertising) has issued its call for entries.

The show is run out of Sydney, but it welcomes entries from NZ.

Categories include Best Content Strategy, Best Use of Film Craft, Best Branded Publication, Content Company of the Year, and Best Branded Entertainment fiction and non-fiction.

This year also sees the addition of the Marketing Team of the Year category, which aims to recognise the entertainment industry’s best marketing team. Entrants can include marketing teams working in film, music, TV, radio, gaming, sports betting and other entertainment media.

The call for entries closes midnight (AEST – that’s 2am the following day on this side of the ditch) on Friday 19 August 19).

The fee for each entry is A$290 (NZ$290) +gst. Late entries are accepted, with an additional entry fee of A$100 (NZ$105) per entry, until midnight on Friday August 26, 2016.

Definitions
For the purpose of these awards, BEfest defines branded entertainment as original content created or funded by a brand, or where a brand integrates marketing messages into content, with the primary intention of delivering an engaging experience to consumers.

Entry into the BEfest Awards is straightforward, and online for all categories. BEfest suggests you take care to understand the entry mechanism before starting work, so you do not put unnecessary effort into production of your entry. You can continue to login and save changes to your online entry/s up until you make your payment. However, to avoid losing work due to potential technical issues, you may want to prepare your entry as a text document and paste it into the entry portal once completed.

Judging period
The judging period covers the 12 months until August 19, 2016. You will be notified by email if you are successfully shortlisted for an award/s by Tuesday 27 September.

Entry is online for all categories unless otherwise stated, via the awards website.

Awards ceremony
The awards presentations will be held in early November (Date and venue to be announced shortly).

It’s a condition of entry that all finalists have a representative present on the night to collect the award, should they be a lucky winner.
