US-based digital content company Jukin Media has announced that it is expanding into ANZ – although the main focus of its expansion will be on Australia, with the NZ side of the business managed remotely.

Jukin’s specialty is helping businesses to unlock the power of user-generated video content, and the company has hired Sydney-based media industry veteran Simon White to lead licensing and partnerships in the region. White, they say, will make regular visits across the Tasman.

Jukin operates a continually expanding licensing platform which allows publishers, brands, creative agencies and broadcasters around the world to search, browse, and download fully cleared, engaging user-generated videos.

The company’s library features more than 40,000 clips including some of the biggest viral videos in the web’s history like Pizza Rat and David After the Dentist. In addition, Jukin Media offer a search and clearance service for undiscovered user-generated video, giving Jukin partners the ability to reach outside of Jukin’s library to clear UGC video content directly from social media.

“We know brands and media companies in Australia and NZ have a tremendous appetite for user-generated content, as we’ve seen the number and size of our deals in the region increase dramatically.”

Headquartered in Los Angeles, and with offices in New York and London, Jukin Media has identified ANZ as its next major growth market.

“We know brands and media companies in Australia and New Zealand have a tremendous appetite for user-generated video content, as we’ve seen the number and size of our deals in the region increase dramatically,” said Jukin’s Cameron Saless.

“With his excellent feel for the marketplace, strong commercial acumen and industry contacts, we couldn’t have found a better fit to lead our efforts in ANZ than Simon.”

White has extensive experience in media content licensing, having held senior positions at Shutterstock, Getty Images and Adobe.

“The local market has already shown tremendous interest in user-generated video,” he said. “Jukin Media has a history of working with well-known brands and publishers in the US and Europe, and I’m really looking forward to helping similar businesses in Australia and New Zealand leverage user-generated video to boost their audience and tell great stories.”

White will be coming to New Zealand for a round of presentations in early October – anybody wishing to be added to the schedule can make contact at simon.white@jukinmedia.com
