Michael Te Young & Candice Hsu to join digital sales house: Viaduct Auckland-based ad2one has appointed former OMD digital director Michael Te Young to its senior management team where, in conjunction with Johanna Cotter, he will lead the expanding New Zealand team during the maternity leave of five-year incumbent NZ managing director Lisa Ison.

“I’m delighted that we will have someone of Michael’s calibre to continue to develop our digital strategies and grow our business during my absence,” said Ison. “His experience across agency, brand and consultancy will ensure that ad2one New Zealand remains the number one destination for advertisers looking to access premium vertical brands to connect with their target audience.”

Most recently an independent consultant, Te Young spent seven years as digital director at OMD following a two year stint as country manager at Facilitate Digital (now Adslot) where he was responsible for launching the brand in New Zealand. Previously, he was a digital account manager at APN News & Media.

“As a veteran of the New Zealand digital sector, the strength of ad2one’s premium publishing portfolio impressed me and I’m looking forward to working with the team to further accelerate the company’s national portfolio, advertiser reach and business performance,” he said.

The company has also hired Candice Hsu as agency account manager to extend and deepen relationships across the New Zealand ecosystem. She joins ad2one from Exponential where she spent three years as senior account manager. Previously she was a client services executive at Yahoo! New Zealand and began her career as a trafficker at TVNZ.

Ambient adds three new senior roles: Ambient Group has made three new senior hires, focused on client strategy, experiential, events and PR. Director Chris Monaghan says the expansion is a response to “a rapid growth phase”.

Hannah Lyle and Tresna Cuttle will join the group as account directors working across the Experiential and Events division. And Belinda Too has joined Ambient Group as strategy director.

Lyle is an event specialist, recently working as the event manager for the Auckland stopover of the Volvo Ocean Race. She brings large scale event experience to the group.

Cuttle comes to Ambient Group from brand marketing roles with Renault and Isuzu Utes New Zealand. She has also held roles with ONEPURE, TelstraClear and Fairfax Media in marketing and events-based positions.

“We’re doubling down on our experiential division,” Monaghan said. “Tresna and Hannah represent a windfall for our client, and are known for their flawless execution.

“We’re instantly improving and expanding our experiential delivery capabilities. We have big plans in the category and great people with the experience to match are the heart of it.”

Belinda Too has experience working for a number of California based start-ups. She has worked previously in communications positions with Arrow Media Group and Membership Health, both based in the US.

“Belinda started with us on the experiential side of the business, but we quickly recognised her skill set and moved her into a dedicated strategic role,” Monaghan said. “Belinda will be working closely with our clients to develop strategies across experiential, events, sponsorship and PR.

“We are adding assets and capabilities at a very fast pace, and these hires demonstrate our commitment to providing the absolute best to our already broad client base.”
