New Zealand branding agency Dow Design has announce its acquisition of Auckland digital design and marketing agency Goodfolk.

The combined business will be known as Dow Goodfolk and will provide an end-to-end service that spans design and brand strategy through to digital and marketing automation.

Dow Design founder/MD Annie Dow says that with the rise of digital channels, gaps are becoming apparent between the physical and online worlds.

“Effective branding depends on not just consistent communication at every customer touch point, but also on design and branding excellence,” she said.

“It’s rare that brand experiences are executed well across the multiple digital channels available to brands in the modern world. Expanding our capability in digital and marketing automation will give us the capability under one roof to get the job done right everywhere modern brands appear.”

“Digital 2.0 – moving beyond the perfunctory to more emotive and enriching brand expressions in the online space.”

Dow says that in her agency’s experience (which spans 23 years), translating the brand it produced across digital channels via an external agency has resulted in the loss of key elements of the design and branding.

“This is a recurrent problem in the industry; we’ve recognised it and so have Goodfolk,” Dow said.

This year, Dow Design has completed campaigns for VTNZ, Simpson Western, Dairy Goat Co-operative, Tasman Bay Food Group, Hellers and Innova. Goodfolk had a successful year of digital campaigns for Auckland Council, Orion Healthcares, Yealands, Metro Glass and Fidelity Life.

By combining Dow Design’s years of industry experience and excellence in branding with Goodfolk’s specialised digital offering and automated marketing offering, Dow Goodfolk can offer more distinctive and all-encompassing branding and design experience for clients, Dow says.

Goodfolk general manager Benn Winlove calls it: “Digital 2.0, moving beyond the perfunctory to more emotive and enriching brand expressions in the online space”.

“We’re bringing together a recognised leader in branding and design and a top digital design and marketing agency. It’s not only an exciting development for our businesses, but more importantly for our clients who can look forward to more distinctive and compelling brand expression on and offline,” Winlove said.
