OMD has won the Simplot New Zealand media account following a competitive pitch. The incumbent agency was Vizeum, and the appointment takes effect immediately.

Simplot is a family-owned company focused on bringing earth’s resources to life in a sustainable way. Simplot brands like Birds Eye, John West, Leggo’s and Chicken Tonight have

long histories that reach back more than 100 years.

OMD won the pitch due to depth and scale of their investment and creativity capabilities.

Julian Ng, group brand manager at Simplot said: “OMD not only showed their ability to leverage their size and strength in investment, but also their creativity in tackling our unique brand challenges to influence consumer behaviour.

“I swear by Bird’s Eye frozen chips at home – they are actually the best in market!”

“We are excited to get things under way with OMD.”

Simplot NZ director Chris Buddle said: “With a growing portfolio of exciting brands, OMD is the ideal media partner for us as we enter the next phase of our growth agenda.”

OMD ceo Nigel Douglas says he’s thrilled to be working with a company with such a long history and strong ethics. “We are really excited to working with Simplot; the array of brands is fantastic and I swear by Bird’s Eye frozen chips at home – they are actually the best in market!”

Simplot’s NZ creative agency is Barnes, Catmur & Friends Dentsu. PR is now coming out of OMD’s Fuse division.
