AUCKLAND, Today: The Commercial Communications Council is excited to announce the second year of the Young Lions Competition, now welcoming registrations from dynamic duos.

The 2023 contest attracted a vibrant pool of 142 contenders, forming 72 teams. They competed across two categories, eyeing the chance to shine at the Cannes Lions Festival in France.

Last year’s success has prompted Stuff to renew its sponsorship for the Media Category. Andrew Reinholds, Stuff’s Director of Harakeke, emphasises the critical role of creative media thinking in today’s fragmented media landscape.

New this year, NZME sponsors the Digital Category. Carolyn Luey, Chief Digital and Publishing Officer, aligns the sponsorship with NZME’s dedication to digital excellence, celebrating emerging digital talent.

“Young Lions is the best competition for young creatives bar none.”

The Young Lions Competition offers a gateway for emerging professionals to represent Aotearoa on the global stage at Cannes. Entrants face a challenging local contest, echoing the Cannes Festival’s format.

“The Young Lions is the best competition for young creatives bar none. The opportunity to win a trip to compete in Cannes is a once-in-a-lifetime thing. Not only do the winners get the chance to get global recognition, but they also get a festival pass to hear from the best speakers in the world,” says Comms Council CEO, Simon Lendrum.

Open registration beckons teams under 30 to join the fray. Aspiring participants must be born on or after 21 June 1993 to be eligible.

The entry deadline looms on Wednesday, 6 March at 12 pm. Prospective teams are urged to visit to secure their spot in this prestigious contest.
