Ogilvy exec joins APN Outdoor
APN Outdoor NZ has appointed experienced Auckland agency executive Mike Watkins as its new General Manager, replacing Phil Clemas.

Watkins has been in the advertising industry in the NZ market for over 20 years, most recently as Head of social@Ogilvy. He’s also held senior roles at DDB and M&C Saatchi, and was COO and founder of Post Creative Group, and Group General Manager at Designworks.

“We are very much looking forward to Mike joining the New Zealand team in the capacity of General Manager,” said Richard Herring, APN Outdoor’s Sydney-based CEO.

“With his extensive experience across different areas of the industry, Mike will bring a fresh perspective and new approach to the business. Mike’s skillset, customer-centric focus and plethora of industry contacts will serve him well in this role and we look forward to watching his growth and success on this new journey.”

Mike Watkins said:  “I have long admired APN Outdoor for their professional approach and their great reputation in market. The trajectory of the company, and the outdoor industry overall was certainly appealing when making this decision, as was the opportunity to work with such a well-regarded team. I look forward to leading the New Zealand business to further successes and building on their already strong reputation.”

Watkins will officially join the business in mid-August, to close out Q3 with APN Outdoor and lead the team into the final months of the year.

Phil Clemas has yet to announce his future plans.
