Arrivals & Departures: MediaWorks & Glen Kyne make it formal, new booker at Johnson & Laird

MediaWorks has appointed Glen Kyne as the group’s Chief Commercial Officer, formalising his current position as Acting CCO.

In this new role, Glen Kyne will manage the commercial operations across the MediaWorks television, radio & digital platforms and brands, including pricing, inventory, a nationwide customer engagement program, and revenue management.

He will oversee a 160-strong team of sales, integration, and sales engagement staff, including MediaWorks’ award-winning Integration division.

“We are thrilled to have Glen move into the CCO role,” said MediaWorks Group CEO Michael Anderson. “He brings a wealth of experience from both within MediaWorks and externally across a wide range of commercial projects and operations.

“I have no doubt he’ll continue his outstanding work and I am looking forward to working closely with him to further strengthen our position in the market.”

Glen Kyne said: “I’m very excited to accept this role. We have an amazing asset base at MediaWorks and a highly respected team. I look forward to further developing both, and helping deliver outstanding results for our customers.”

Kyne has more than 20 years of sales and management experience, the last six in the New Zealand media industry, with roles including MediaWorks’ Chief New Ventures Officer, MediaWorks’ Head of Integration and Head of Integration at The Radio Network. Prior to this appointment, as MediaWorks’ Chief New Ventures Officer, he oversaw a number of notable commercial developments including MediaWorks TEG Live and 3NOW.

Before joining the media industry, he held a variety of executive and general manager roles across a range of sectors, including General Manager, Sales at SingTel Optus SMB and Chief Operating Officer at Sagacious Procurement.

His appointment is effective immediately.

Johnson & Laird taps Mareena King
Talent agency Johnson & Laird Management has appointed Mareena King as talent agent and booker in its drama division.

King will work alongside J&L’s managing director Imogen Johnson and talent agent Renee Jones, managing local and international acting opportunities.

She has spent 15 years working in the New Zealand film and television industry across feature and short films (The Making of the Mob, Manurewa) and has a background in international commercials – both here and in the UK (Sovereign, Lotto, Samsung, Meridian Energy).

“It’s great to join a vibrant and collaborative team to bring the best opportunities to the talent,” King said. “I’m able to bring my expertise to develop and maintain the excellent reputation Johnson & Laird Management has in the industry.”

This appointment takes J&L to a total of 12 staff across five divisions within the agency, which this month celebrates its 15th year in business.
