Ogilvy Media Auckland has appointed Rachel Cormack as head of media – and one of her first tasks in her new role was to bring two more key people onto her team: strategic planner Kim Leybourne (as media director) and digital marketer Wayne Miller (head of Neo).

Cormack has a background in senior leadership roles at MediaWorks and TVNZ, where she headed their Research and Insight divisions, and as general manager at Starcom, leading The Warehouse, TVNZ and Telecom (before it was Spark).

Cormack told M+AD that Leybourne and Miller provide “an exciting point of difference because of their experience in, and outside of, traditional media agencies”.

Leyborne has over 25 years of marketing experience in London, Australia and New Zealand, and has been responsible for strategic planning and implementation across a number of high profile clients in retail, FMCG, finance, government, pharmaceuticals and travel. Her most recent positions were as GM at Carat and MediaCom, and strategic lead on The Warehouse at DDB.

In her new role at Ogilvy, she will also be leading the Countdown media business.

Millar has held variety of senior marketing roles within telco and e-commerce where he has been responsible for driving digital adoption and data driven thinking.

“So the transition into a full digital and analytics environment at Ogilvy is perfect,” Cormack said. “Over the years he has created some best-in-class UX platforms in the telco and online retail space, worked across media and marketing strategy for a variety of companies.

More appointments are likely as Ogilvy continues to restruct its media business proposition.
