Sunday Punch has appointed Nikki Smith as its new managing director and executive producer. And Smith’s first undertaking? Signing comedy director Helena Brooks.

With 15 years’ experience and many awards under her belt, Smith has worked previously with Apple, Toyota, Westpac, Reebok, Ford, Sony, Nissan, Vodafone and DB.

Helena Brooks has won awards at Axis, Webby and AWARD for commercials and Cannes nods for film. She directs TV sketches for Jono & Ben and comedy for Cure Kids.

“I’m thrilled to have Helena on board,” said Smith. Her comedic voice and exceptional direction is the perfect addition to our squad. Exciting things to come for sure.”

Brooks’ latest two spots were for ASB, featuring Josh Thomson; and Maggi, featuring Jaquie Brown.

Launched in 2013, Sunday Punch is home to New Zealand’s premier comedic directing and writing talent.
