AT taps Ambient Group

Auckland Transport has selected Ambient Group to provide AT’s on-street human resources. Ambient has previously worked with AT, supplying talent ambassadors and non-traditional media services.

“We’re creative and industry leaders in the experiential, outdoor, events and activations, and sponsorship space,” said Ambient Group ceo Chris Monaghan. “Our specialised experience, track record of successful activations, and the size of our organisation played a role in AT’s selection.”

Ambient’s ambassador staff assisted with on-street marketing during the 2011 Rugby World Cup, the introduction of the AT HOP card, the introduction of Auckland’s electric trains, and at the opening of major new facilities and community events.

On-street human resources are the face of Auckland Transport’s customer service, he says. “Under the direction of AT, Ambient’s pool of professional brand ambassadors will be found at train stations, bus stops and ferry terminals to deliver important messages and assistance about the transportation network.”

AT will utilise the agency to deliver new information on services, special events, disruptions to services, ticketing, and consultation and assistance with marketing campaigns.

The demand for specially trained AT on street staff is increasing, Monaghan said. Ambient Group’s talent pool will be used on a number of upcoming major projects to deliver information and passenger assistance. These include the City Rail Link, Auckland Integrated Fares System, new network consultations and roll-outs, new cycle-ways and new transport facilities.

“We’re delighted to further extend our partnership with Auckland Transport,” Monaghan said. “They’re one of the largest and most important government agencies in the nation, and our staff will be improving the transportation of Aucklanders every day they’re out there.

“We’re well aware of the responsibility of this contract and are ready to deliver it.”
