AUCKLAND, Today: The Comms Council has unveiled the international judges for Axis 2021. This year, due to Covid restrictions, the local executive panel will be assisted online by two internationally acclaimed ECDs – Leo Permutico of Johannes Leonardo New York, and Tara McKenty of Google Sydney.
McKenty will be reviewing and judging all the finalist work online. Permutico will be deciding the Grand Prix and the Grand Axis winner, selecting these from the Gold winners chosen locally.
Comms Counil sponsorship & events manager Natasha Galloway said: “Tara McKenty has always been a force to be reckoned with, as exampled by her kindergarten teacher – at only four years old, Tara was told she’d either be the Prime Minister of New Zealand, or the devil itself.
“Though her political destiny never took off, what she did accomplish is far greater. Whilst at TBWA\ NZ, Tara was named in Campaign Magazine’s Top 50 emerging talent portfolio for the creation of a limited-edition Absolut bottle design.
“Tara McKenty is ex-TBWA\NZ; Leo Permutico is ex-Colenso NZ.”
“Riding this wave of success, Tara swam across the ditch to work with Saatchi & Saatchi as an art director in Sydney. Now, Tara works at Google as their creative director.
“Starting as the youngest member of the leadership team at Saatchi & Saatchi London, and before that he was a star creative at Colenso BBDO Auckland.
Premutico went on to co-found Johannes Leonardo in 2007 at just 29 years old.
“With multiple feats under their belt, including the Mobile Grand Prix at Cannes Advertising Lions for the Google Re:Brief campaign, the 2017 Entertainment for Music Grand Prix for their repositioning of adidas Originals Strikethrough campaign, and the infamous Drive Bigger platform for Volkswagen, Leo Premutico has proven his true advertising effectiveness.
