Bad hair day for Djokovic

On court, Novak Djokovic is some tennis player – sadly, on screen his performances are woeful. Proof of this can be seen in Djokovic’s laughable attempts to act the part of renowned ’80s tennis brat John McInroe for a good cause – World Vision.

ANZ Bank has brought Djokovic back for its campaign around the Australian Open Tennis, using the Melbourne Grand Slam event as a major fundraiser for World Vision. This year’s campaign looks at some interesting characters from the world of tennis in a campaign urging people to take selfies wearing  headband and push them out on social media using the #HeadbandForGood hashtag.

With ANZ donating $2 for each selfies World Vision could receive up to $100,000 from the bank through the promotion.

The lol highlight of the ad is Djokovic in a bad wig, aping McEnroe. Badly.

M+AD picked up this story from a recent piece in the NZ Herald – the ad was obviously shot in Melbourne, but at press time, nobody was available at ANZ’s Auckland agency Whybin\TBWA to tell us if it would screen in NZ.

We hope to run this info – plus a film company credits list – tomorrow.
