AUCKLAND, Wednesday: Bauer Media has established a new travel editor role and is streamlining the creation of its sought-after travel content across all consumer magazine and digital brands within its business.

The appointment of Penny Lewis as the company-wide travel editor is intended to further develop Bauer Media’s storytelling expertise and strengthen the sector for its brands.

Lewis is currently the lifestyle director for Woman’s Day and New Zealand Woman’s Weekly and has 20 years’ experience in lifestyle journalism. She has previously been the deputy editor of Your Home & Garden and Home magazines, and the NZ Herald’s real estate editor and the editor of Herald on Sunday lifestyle magazine, now Sunday Travel.

Lewis will help lead a group of expert journalists to produce innovative travel content across the Bauer Media brands and platforms, with the exception of Kia Ora magazine, Air New Zealand’s inflight publication, which has a dedicated editorial team.

Bauer Media has already seen success with this holistic and brand-agnostic approach in its beauty and fashion domains.

“Our titles produce an extraordinary amount of travel content – more than 1000 features every year.”

The media company recognises that travel is a passion-point for its audiences and this business-wide strategy will simplify the approach to content creation and enable the publisher to amplify stories which resonate with readers across New Zealand. It also allows more opportunity to work with commercial partners in content creation.

Penny Lewis said: “Our titles produce an extraordinary amount of travel content – more than 1000 features every year. This is an opportunity to put a strategy around Bauer’s impressive offering of engaging and inspiring travel stories in a relevant way for each brand.
