AUCKLAND, Friday: Bauer Media has elevated Tanya Walshe to managing director of the NZ arm of the company. She succeeds current NZ MD Brendon Hill who’s been promoted to the Sydney-based ceo role at Bauer ANZ, following the retirement of current ANZ ceo Paul Dykzeul.

“It’s an absolute honour to take up the role of managing director and to lead such a talented team with storytelling superpowers and world-class commercial acumen,” Walshe said (in a statement).

“Underpinned by strong audience insight, Bauer Media’s influence has been growing rapidly with our digital audiences at a record high and our much-loved media brands enjoying enviable engagement metrics.

“We have a clear strategic roadmap and I’m excited to drive our focus on smart custom content creation, digital expansion, data and insights and launching new services around our audiences’ passion points.”

“Tanya has been instrumental in contributing to the successful position Bauer Media holds in the market.”

Walshe has 28 years’ experience working in media. She has been a member of the Bauer Media NZ executive team since joining the company in 2009 as group research & strategy manager. In 2016 Walshe’s remit was extended to include the role of weeklies/fashion publisher. The following year she was promoted to insights GM, with overall responsibility for 15 magazine brands as well as Bauer’s research teams in both New Zealand and Australia.

Brendon Hill said, “Tanya has been instrumental in contributing to the successful position Bauer Media holds in the market and she is hugely respected throughout the organisation.

“I have had the pleasure of working closely with Tanya for the last few years and have complete confidence in her ability to drive market-leading growth and innovation while delivering exceptional content to our audiences.”
