Beat Freemans Bay client Eat My Lunch – an Effie 2015 finalist – won the Communication gold at the 2015 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards, held Tuesday at Shed 10 on the waterfront.

Eat My Lunch is an Auckland project set up by marketer Lisa King with celebrity chef Michael Meredith – they make and sell their tasty, healthy product, and for every lunch sold, they give another to a needy Kiwi kid.

Beat senior account manager Rebecca Priestley told M+AD this morning EML has done very little advertising yet. “Mostly of the communications activity till now has been around PR,” she said.

The judges said: “Eat My Lunch ran a lovely campaign that made people feel positive about the opportunity to give lunch to someone else. It’s a simple but immensely powerful idea that empowers consumers through a clear key message expressed powerfully. It’s hard to believe Eat My Lunch only started this year and it’s already exceeded 50,000 lunches and started with no budget.”

Lisa King said: “We are thrilled to have won this award. At the heart of Eat My Lunch is the desire to make a difference to child poverty and this recognition confirms that we’re on the right track.”
