AUCKLAND, Today: DB Breweries have taken out the Supreme Award at last night’s TVNZ-NZ Marketing Awards, held at the Cordis, for their Reviving a Legend – Tui’s Stepchange Into RTDs marketing initiative.

Winners in the Sector and Excellence categories represented organisations of different sizes from a wide variety of sectors, including Subaru, NZ AIDS Foundation, The Edge – MediaWorks, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, Tower Insurance, Kiwibank, BLIS Technologies, Health Promotion Agency / Te Hiringa Hauora, Mitre 10, All Blacks tours, Meridian Energy, Safe Kids in Daily Supervision and Nestlé New Zealand, Engineering New Zealand, Tonkin + Taylor, Skinny, Flight Centre New Zealand, and J H Whittaker & Sons.

“Tui was brave to take their heritage brand into a new and opposing marketing segment.”

About DB Breweries’ Supreme win, the judges said: “Tui was brave to take their long established and heritage brand into a new and opposing marketing segment.

“This was a legacy brand facing the need to revitalise itself. The marketing team directed the business to take the risk of shifting their brand and were able to not only perform well, but retain their core market. It is a true end-to-end marketing solution, reshaping the business with it.”

Three individuals were also honoured on the night. The Rookie Marketer of the Year Award went to Emily Thorn from Auckland Council, while McDonald’s marketing director Jo Mitchell was named the 2019 Marketer of the Year.

The 2019 Marketing Hall of Fame inductee is Philip Poole, head of marketing at Whittaker’s since 2002.
