CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday: OMD New Zealand is ramping up their focus on the Christchurch market with the elevation of Mike Harrison to general manager.

Harrison, a veteran of the Omnicom Media Group, with 15 years working across group brands OMD, PHD and Dynamo, brings a wealth of experience to the local Christchurch market.

Nigel Douglas, ceo of OMD NZ, said: “Mike joins Sue McCrea, managing partner of the Christchurch office, adding significant horsepower to the leadership and strategic offering for OMD’s South Island client base.

“This is a fantastic way to finish the year for the OMD Christchurch team after a successful showing across the 2023 awards season.

“The team were recognised for the work done on both Christchurch City Council and their Trash Talking campaign, which won Silver in Best Use of Multi-channel Integration and Silver in Best use of Programmatic at the IAB Awards.

“As a North Canterbury native, I’ve been toying around with the idea of returning home for some time.”

“Mike’s addition to the team further strengthens OMD NZ’s commitment to continue to deliver award winning work, expertise and experience in the Christchurch market into 2024.

“I’m excited to see what this partnership between Sue and Mike will bring to the local team and their clients. Sue, with her wealth of local experience and relationships, and Mike who brings his extensive experience working with NZ’s top brands and managing our Auckland office for the last five years, together this is a world-class offering for Christchurch and the South Island.

“We’re looking forward to seeing what these two market-leading operators will achieve together.”

Mike Harrison – who will be managing the day-to-day operations of the agency and team – said: “As a North Canterbury native, I’ve been toying around with the idea of returning home to Christchurch for some time.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with Sue, one of, if not the most respected media operator in the local market and adding value wherever I can. There’s so much opportunity to grow OMD’s brand and presence locally, and I can’t wait to meet our local clients and partners to see how I can support our team here in Christchurch to live OMD NZ’s ambition to be a world class agency”.
