AUCKLAND, Saturday: Professional clown Joseph Brosnahan, who famously accompanied FCB NZ copywriter Josh Thompson to his redundancy meeting, has now added a new string to his bow –  emotions adviser to the All Blacks and their followers.

“It’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game,” he told the Herald’s Tom Dillane, who was compiling a preview of Saturday’s big game. “As a performer, I live by this maxim.

“The way I see it, everything’s a game; a series of games. It’s my job to lose one game by winning the other. That’s what makes me funny.

“By playing another game at the same time, we created a metagame that we were able to win.”

“Take my recent job, for example. That was a game he was destined to lose. But by playing another game at the same time, we created a metagame that we were able to win.

“Emotionally invested AB fans should not let an early exit in either a tournament – or a job – define them forever.

“There’s always the next game. If nothing else, you can hire a clown as your emotional support person.

“I hear good things about that.”
