Spark and Colenso BBDO have today launched a new campaign to help celebrate Pride 2018 and Kiwis who have been positively impacted by those in the LGBTQI+ community.

The #Thankstoyou campaign, invites Kiwis who have been positively influenced by the rainbow community and its allies to voice their appreciation.

“This small but meaningful gesture acknowledges the efforts of the rainbow community to pave the way for future generations to grow up in a more accepting and respectful country,” said Spark’s Rhonda Koroheke.

#Thankstoyou is brought to life through a beautiful piece of video creative that celebrates real life, through same sex couple Chris Paul Hunter and Marc Hobson with their young son Lucas David Hunter-Hobson at home in Christchurch, beautifully illustrating the happiness of a rainbow family growing up in a supportive and loving environment.

For Pride 2018, Spark is celebrating the organisations and individuals who have helped move forward perceptions and attitudes towards rainbow communities over the years.

#Thankstoyou acknowledges that the efforts of individuals and organisations within the rainbow community over the years now mean that younger generations are growing up in a country that’s becoming more accepting, loving and respectful.”

The campaign launched today, backed by social content shared over Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.

Spark embraces OUTLine
To mark Pride 2018, Spark has also announced a partnership with OUTLine – a confidential telephone support and face-to-face counselling service available to the LGBTQI+ community and their families and friends. Thanks to OUTLine, Kiwi rainbow communities and their families have had a place to go for resources and support since 1972.

“The work that OUTLine has done over the years has helped so many people. The notion that something as little as a moment of connection can have a big impact in someone’s life is something that really resonates with Spark”, explains Rhonda Koroheke, Spark’s Lead for Diversity.

The Manager of OUTLine, Duncan Matthews says, “I’m really proud and thankful that OUTLine is Spark’s first partnership in the LGBTQI+ community. With our 0800 service this seems on the surface as the perfect match, but the partnership runs deeper than that. I’m looking forward to working alongside Spark as we work together with the common goal of making Aotearoa a more accepting place for all.”
