Sydney & Auckland-based production company Eight has signed Kate Halpin for representation in Australia, New Zealand and Asia, bringing the company’s female director roster up to eight.

Eight MD/exec producer Katie Millington said: “Kate’s signing brings Eight’s female director tally to one third of the roster, a statistic Eight is incredibly proud of.

“Kate is a perfectionist known for her unique visual flair, distinctive colour palettes and nuanced performances. She gravitates towards quirky, stylised comedy or conversely gritty, dark drama and she’s a total boss at either end of the spectrum.”

Halpin is a graduate of the International Film School Sydney, where she completed an Advanced Diploma in Screen and Media specialising in directing, screenwriting and producing. She initially trained as an actor and has a Bachelor of Arts (Acting for Screen and Stage), which has given her insight into directing talent.

Millington said: “Kate is an incredible talent. As soon as I saw her work I knew we had to have her”.
