AUCKLAND, Tuesday: Three of the original radio pirates who injected much-needed life into the NZ broadcasting scene in the 1960s have passed during the past week.
Murray Inglis, Colin Broadley, and Barry (Dr Rock) Jenkin were rock’n’roll pioneers at a time when most stations were state-owned, and sounded like the BBC.
“There should be a great station starting up soon in the sky,” commented former Hauraki colleague Dave McCombs.
