Saatchi NZ has launched the first major campaign for ‘cheap’ NZ power company Electric Kiwi – an online-only outfit that offers a “smarter, smaller” alternative.

Elecric Kiwi co-founder/managing director Julian Kardos says the company aims to generate brand awareness and promote its $200 guaranteed savings offer to New Zealand families.

Saatchi NZ won the business in a pitch in May last year. It’s the company’s first nationwide TVC since its soft launch in May last year.

Supporting the campaign are billboards in the main centres and  digital ads. Electric Kiwi is also sponsoring TV3’s Family Feud and Story.

This campaign comes after NZ consumers reacted against recent price hikes from larger companies with the change of season.

Genesis Energy, Mercury Energy and Contact Energy all introduced increased prices at the beginning of this month.
