Ponsonby-based Flying Fish has signed acclaimed New Zealand filmmaker Christine Jeffs to their roster, turning their ongoing relationship into a formal one.

“It’s great to be able to make her representation with us official,” says executive producer/managing director James Moore. “Christine’s delicate charm and craft in her work is something to admire. She is an exceptionally talented and a very experienced performance and drama director.”

“Christine brings with her a wealth of knowledge when it comes to emotive and cinematic film making, long and short form.”

Her cinema works include directing the eloquent and charming Sunshine Cleaning staring Emily Blunt, Amy Adams, and Alan Arkin, and Sylvia (with Gwyneth Paltrow & Daniel Craig).

“Her first feature Rain was selected for Directors Fortnight at the Cannes International Film Festival. No NZ film has been selected in this prestigious category since.”

Rain was sold internationally and screened theatrically around the world, including a US domestic release. It was selected for many international film festivals including Sundance, Toronto, and was hailed by critics worldwide.

The commercials
Jeff’s most recent commercial work includes directing the latest BP campaigns with Ogilvy. She has won numerous advertising awards over the years including Cannes Lions.

“With my feature film focus, joining Fish is the perfect match,” she says. “I am excited to work in an environment that understands and values specifically what feature film experience brings to commercials and that champions the connection between great performance and great commercials.

“I will fit right into what is a top-notch family of directors and producers, many whom have already been part of my journey.”

“Christine Jeffs is available for projects immediately and we welcome enquiries,” said James Moore.
