AUCKLAND, Today: Ever wondered about your printer’s peculiar smell while drafting an ‘Out-of-Office’ email? Unlikely, but that’s just the type of office quirk Calvin Sang, Director at Eyes and Ears, infuses into Grabaseat’s innovative New Year campaign, sparking dreams of holiday escapes.

Air New Zealand’s Grabaseat and Eyes and Ears have nurtured a creative partnership over four years, delivering a series of engaging Grabaseat videos, including the iconic New Year sale spots. Featuring the exceptional comedic talent, Jim Cawthorn, these adverts have cultivated an unofficial ‘Grabaseat multiverse,’ a hyperbolic yet relatable realm encouraging viewers to explore.

“Grabaseat is one of the rare brands that isn’t afraid to say yes to some pretty crazy ideas.”

The success of these adverts stems from their dry, engaging ‘Kiwi’ humour, a signature style of Eyes and Ears. Calvin comments, “Grabaseat is one of the rare brands that isn’t afraid to say yes to some pretty crazy ideas. It’s always a great time cooking up a new video idea with the team.”

The latest campaign showcases a dull office environment, brightened by vivid characters, each with their moment to shine. Having collaborated with Jim Cawthorn on three prior campaigns, Calvin has crafted the creative direction around Cawthorn’s impeccable comedic timing and improvisation skills.

David Mackenzie, Manager of Grabaseat, lauds the partnership, stating, “When working with Eyes and Ears, creative sparks fly, ideas take shape, and together we turn imagination into reality. We always look forward to seeing what Calvin creates and this new series didn’t disappoint.”
