Southern Cross Health Society has appointed Freemans Bay-based Contagion to work on its new digitally-led marketing strategy.

Southern Cross, which accounts for 73% of NZ’s health insurance claims, says it was looking for a partner who could provide a new digital marketing direction in line with the digital services being provided to members.

“In today’s day and age, digital can’t be a standalone strategy,” said Southern Cross Health Society head of product & marketing Chris Watney.

“We needed an agency that can promote our expertise and knowledge seamlessly across multiple channels, backed by great insight and digital know-how.

“Contagion’s mix of strategic insight, content, media and creative talent means Dean Taylor and his team are the right partners to help bring this to life.”

Contagion managing director Dean Taylor said: “We love to work with Kiwi clients who represent more than just their brand, and really believe in a cause for their members.”

As a not-for-profit friendly society, Southern Cross has the opportunity to take the higher ground in the health insurance market, says Contagion creative director Verity Dookia.

“We aim to shake up perceptions around insurance. It’s inspiring to be working with a business that has a higher purpose than the bottom line. Wanting to actually make members lives better opens a world of opportunity compared to your typical insurance creative.”

Contagion will now help develop and implement the society’s marketing strategy, creative, social and media work.
