Australia-based design-led retail consultancy Greater Group, which already has offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, has expanded its global footprint by opening an office in New Zealand.

Greater group’s GM of global brand & strategy Danielle Barclay has relocated to New Zealand from Melbourne to head up the Auckland office.

Barclay joined the Greater Group team in April 2014. She has over 17 years experience working within media, advertising and design agencies and boasts a skillset that spans interior design, retail strategy, communications, PR, direct marketing, and experiential and events. She has previously held managing director and general manager roles at Omnicom agencies DDB Shop, TRO Australia and Retail Engine.

“We’ve got offices throughout Asia and Australia,” she says. “Our establishment in Auckland was a natural step after securing a series of substantial commissions with leading New Zealand-based companies.”

Current clients include: Samsung, Optus Singtel, Google, Emirates Retail, Pandora, Luxottica, Coles Liquor, Hyundai, Westpac Group, JB Hi Fi.

Joining the newly formed Auckland team will be Mike Andrews in the role of project development manager. He will work alongside Barclay to build the New Zealand business and client list, focusing on local as well as global brands.

With over 10 years experience in the field of brand implementation, Andrews has also held business development and management roles for The Display Group, Lexicon, Claude Neon and more recently as the corporate identity manager at Hyundai NZ.

His areas of expertise include brand interpretation, value engineering, process development and manufacturing, where he’s delivered a range of solutions for clients across the multi-site retail environment right through to national roll-outs for some of the world’s largest brands.

Barclay and Andrews first met working together on retail design and build projects for Mercedes Benz, Snowberry, Stoneleigh and  NZ Lotteries when Danielle was managing DDB Shop in Auckland.

“I’m very pleased to be working with Mike again to bring the greater group offer to the New Zealand market and to utilise our combined skills to make a positive impact through innovation in retail design and delivery,” she said.

“His appointment further strengthens our focus in the New Zealand market. He’s a seasoned professional, with a broad skill-set which will be a great asset to our clients.”

Mike Andrews said: “To be a part of Greater Group’s growth and launch into the New Zealand market is an incredibly exciting opportunity, one that was too good to pass up. Greater Group have done some fantastic work overseas, which has received prestigious and international accolades within the marketing, design and retail space.

“We’ve got some exciting projects in the pipeline for New Zealand that will keep us very busy for Q1 2015, so watch this space.”

The Auckland Greater Group office will be based at the Steelworks Building in Mt Eden and officially opened last week.
