2016 is kicking off with a plethora of significant local & offshore awards shows and industry seminars – including the looming Axis and One Show deadlines, a CAANZ employment law seminar, a Beacons entry-writing workshop, and the Marketing Association’s NZDM Awards. Here’s a summary …

AXIS DEADLINE TUESDAY

Entries for the Axis Awards close at 4pm this Tuesday 19 January. CAANZ will accept late entries (for a fee) until 4pm Thursday 21 January.

The awards dinner & show will be held on Thursday 10 March at the Viaduct Events Centre. Doors open for drinks at 6.30pm, with the main event starting at 7pm.

The Theme for this year is Interesting Wins.


WRITE AN AWARD-WINNING BEACONS ENTRY WORKSHOP

CAANZ has announced details of its of a short, sharp How to Write an Award-winning Entry workshop for this year’s Beacon Awards.

The workshop is just 10 days away. It will be led by OMD’s Andrew Reinholds and FCB Media’s Rufus Chuter, and held from 9am to 10.30am at the Media Design School, 92 Albert St, on Thursday 21 January.

The cost is $25+gst.

The Beacons call for entry closes on Tuesday 23 February, and the awards dinner & show will be held at the Viaduct Events Centre on Thursday 5 May.


BURNING ISSUES IN EMPLOYMENT LAW

Next up for CAANZ is a breakfast employment law seminar, led by Kensington Swan managing partner Anthony Drake. This will be held on Wednesday 17 February at the KMPG building (scroll down for details).

Drake will update everyone on:

  • Significant changes to the new Health & Safety legislation and what this will mean for your business
  • How the new compliance rules can and will attract significant penalties if ignored – including stress-related claims
  • Internships – overworked and underpaid?
  • Social Media – the problems keep compounding – what you need to know
  • The importance of keeping on top of legal developments and changes in order to stay competitive is a business

“These are vital issues for all senior agency management, HR managers, senior suits, planners and creative directors,” says CAANZ marketing & events coordinator Lis Carroll.

Following close behind is the Marketing Association’s NZDM Awards show in five weeks – on Thursday 25 February at the Langham.

THE ONE SHOW DEADLINE – TWO WEEKS TO GO

Entries for The One Show close on Friday, January 29. The show will be held in New York City on Friday 13 May.
