Jobmedia shareholders step up as Michael Bowie pens exit letter

Michael Bowie, who established Jobmedia Ltd 16 years ago back in May 1999, has decided to retire from recruitment and as a director and co-owner of the business. He has been instrumental in the development of Jobmedia in the advertising industry, and has seen Jobmedia succeed in a competitive recruitment market.

Abbey Carter and Anna Barker, the remaining two shareholders, have taken over full ownership and will continue to run Jobmedia, “servicing our clients and candidates with the same care and high standards”.

Completing the team is Sarah Marsh, who has worked in the advertising industry for over 20 years. She will be utilising her extensive account management background and assisting Abbey Carter and Anna Barker recruiting in the account service space.

“Having worked as a very tight-knit team for a number of years, it is with much sadness that we farewell Michael from the business he has worked so hard to make the success it is, and thank him for the wonderful opportunity to continue this legacy,” said Abbey Carter & Anna Barker in a joint statement.

“We will miss his “fatherly” advice, support, “dad” jokes, and wicked sense of humour, and wish him nothing but the best in his exciting new venture. It’s not  goodbye from us, rather ‘see you soon’ – at his new residence in Kuratau.

“We are looking forward to developing new relationships in the market with agencies and candidates alike and will be making contact over the coming weeks.”

haere rā from Michael Bowie …

Time to Go

I have been involved with Media and Advertising recruitment for nearly 16 years – launched 1 May 1999. During this time, the Industry has had to understand and embrace the biggest upheaval in the way marketers communicate their product or service to the consumer. It is no longer monologue, but dialogue; it’s about engaging with your customer and being receptive to feedback, whether great or otherwise.

Jobmedia has also gone through a number of changes over the last 16 years and is now in the best shape it has ever been. Anna and Abbey are without doubt the best recruiters to this Industry. They have built excellent relationships with both candidates and clients. For the last few months the Lennon & McCartney song Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I’m 64 keeps playing in my head. Jobmedia is in great shape with Abbey & Anna – not to forget Sarah Marsh. Between the three of them, there are many years of industry experience. So I leave Jobmedia in very good heart and sincerely do wish Anna & Abbey all the very best for the future.

So that does mean retirement? Definitely not according to Mrs Bowie!! Barb launched a new venture last year (www.tongariroadventures.co.nz) and I have a new role as H of Marketing, Cleaning, Ironing, Transporting, Entertaining, Vacuuming … and that’s just the morning.

I’m energised with my new role and Barb & I would also love to host you anytime in our piece of paradise, on the southern shores of Lake Taupo. Whether as individuals or in larger groups – such as mini conferences; strategy planning sessions; team building; chill out time, we will make your stay fun and memorable.

Thanks to you all for the great time I have had in this wonderful industry and for the many friends I have made.

“If you ever want to contact me, mobile is still 021 645 565, but my email is now mandbpartnership@gmail.com.”

Ka kite anō,
Michael
