Ireland’s premier international creative advertising awards show, the Kinsale Shark Awards, is now open for entries. As from today, Film, Music Video, Print and Design categories can all be entered until the deadline on Wednesday 6 September. The festival runs from Thursday 21-Saturday 23 September in Kinsale, Ireland.
AMVBBDO London creative partner and head of art Rosie Arnold will be headlining the speaking schedule, along with former Havas ECD Andy Sandoz, and NYC-based wiseguy-turned-good-guy, Antonio Fernandez (aka King Tone) the former head of the Latin Kings, the largest Hispanic street gang in the US, who in 1999 was sentenced to 12 for conspiring to sell narcotics.
Fernandez is the main figure in the 2007 HBO documentary, Latin Kings: A Street Gang story. Upon his release, Fernandez singlehandedly transformed the Latin Kings into a political movement, fighting for social justice on behalf of a suppressed Latin American community.
“I’m afraid that this year we have no lovely jury members from New Zealand,” writes Zoe Brooks of Boo PR London.
“Last year we had Luvly’s Maggie Mouat – but I wanted to keep you in the loop anyway.”
Festival director Aisling White said: “Kinsale is a small, intimate festival with a personal approach to speaking to, and engaging with, the creative community.”
“Headlining is reformed crim Antonio Fernandez, once head of the largest Hispanic street gang in the US.”
