Kiwi comedian to host big annual show

AUCKLAND, Sunday: Comedian Alice Snedden – herself a NZTV Awards-winner for Best Comedy Script – has been named to host the 2019 Huawei NZ Television Awards, to be held on Thursday 21 November at the Aotea Centre.

Comedian Alice Snedden – herself a 2018 New Zealand Television Award-winner for Best Script: Comedy – will host this year’s ceremony, hot off her recent stint at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The TV Awards will precede GridAKL (the NZ TV Craft Awards on Wednesday 6 November, where  the local screen industry’s artisans and technicians will be honoured.

Judging across 38 Huawei awards categories is now well under way and the event organisers “are delighted” to confirm that they received the most entries ever this year, with more than 500 submissions of local content across multiple genres including news, drama, comedy, reality, documentary and more.

The finalists will be announced on Thursday 24 October. Tickets for the Huawei NZTV Awards 2019 will be on sale to the screen industry from Wednesday 2 October.

This is the second year Huawei has been the naming rights sponsor of the event.
