M+AD has been told off for its coverage yesterday of the NZ Post pitch, won by FCB – headlined Assignment, Clemenger licked out. The wording of our report was “cleverly misleading,” says Clemenger BBDO MD Brett Hoskin.

“I’d appreciate it if you clarified that Clemenger BBDO was not involved in the pitch.”

“We’re very happy to do that,” says ed David Gapes.

“But we certainly did not intentionally mislead.” Gapes says the misunderstanding came about because of winning agencies’ reluctance to name their predecessor.

“We can understand and sympathise why they do not wish to give this information – but we’d also ask agencies to bear with us in our amateur detective work to attempt to identify incumbents.

“This is vital information if we are to provide the full story.”
