MANUKAU CITY, Monday: The Magazine Bureau has merged with Wiri-based print distribution outfit Ovato to create the Ovato Media Bureau.
As independent magazine publishers look for opportunities to secure additional advertising revenue, a discussion last year between The Magazine Bureau (owned by Miles Gandy & Ovato NZ MD Simon Ellis, and Ovato Retail Distribution GM Tony Edwards) emerged, with Gandy joining Ovato to head up the new business unit.
Simon Ellis said: “Ovato is delighted to extend its involvement from our more recognised services of print, distribution (letterbox and retail) and data services to include media sales in its portfolio.
“Ovato Media Bureau is a natural extension and a positive way to assist publishers who may not have this sales resource,” Ellis said.
“With readers preferences still heavily weighted towards reading magazines in the printed form (79% of New Zealanders prefer to read magazines in print according to VOPP.co.nz) it’s only natural for a business operating in this environment to provide support promoting quality audiences that advertisers can engage with.”
“79% of New Zealanders prefer to read magazines in print.”
Ovato Media Bureau will invest considerable resource to further support publishers.
Tony Edwards said: “It’s a great opportunity to collaborate in a competitive media environment to promote the magazine sector while driving incremental revenue growth for our publishing clients”.
Miles Gandy said: “The senior management team at Ovato are dedicated to the commercial success of their publishing clients and with their vast resources and contacts, provides an exciting opportunity to further develop an independent media solution for publishers and media clients.”
