AUCKLAND, Monday: oOh!media and Auckland Transport have combined to bring a slice of te reo Māori to the streets of Tāmaki Makaurau in light of this week’s Māori Language Week.
The commercial partnership delivers 1000 public transport infrastructure locations across the Auckland isthmus. Included within this distribution is 170 ultra-high definition digital advertising panels across the region in CBD and suburban areas.
These digital advertising spaces will be used, in conjunction with Auckland Transport to support Māori Language Week.
oOh!media GM Nick Vile said: “This most recent partnership highlights the impact OOH can have by using these public spaces to amplify New Zealand’s native language while also showcasing a sense of community and connection to Aotearoa.
“Having te reo Māori showcased through the out-of-home format is a subtle yet very effective way to incorporate the language into our everyday lives.”
“oOh! is delighted to be working with Auckland Transport to celebrate Māori Language Week for another year.
“In previous years, oOh! has celebrated the week with contextually relevant messages; reflecting on the weather, time of day or location.”
“This year, we felt it appropriate to reflect the community and the everyday sayings that are being used by Kiwis right now. We wanted to reflect the mood of the nation in a series of sayings reflective of the times.”
Lillian Tahuri, head of Māori engagement at Auckland Transport, said: “Having te reo Māori showcased through the out-of-home format is a subtle yet very effective way to incorporate the language into our everyday lives.”
