A total of 44 winners (from 119 finalists) were named across sales, editorial, photography, design, branding and innovation categories at last night’s Magazine Media Awards at Shed 10 on Queens Wharf. New Zealand Weddings, Metro, Dish, NZ Marketing and Women’s Day came out on top in their respective Best Magazine categories, while NZ Life & Leisure took out the overall Magazine of the Year award.

MPA chairman Paul Dykzeul said that following a review of the awards programme to better reflect the changing nature of the medium, 2015 saw a “huge” 37% increase in awards entries.

“The judges were blown away by the thinking, planning and execution on display; frequently noting how difficult it was to choose a single winner,” he said.

“I’ve never known a time in my career where we have such a rapidly and ever-evolving landscape. That inevitably brings its challenges and at times, unquestionably leaves us a little breathless. But can I say to you unequivocally that I’ve never been more confident about our industry and our position in the media world.”

The MPA thanked judging convener Kim Mundell and the 41 judges, and their family of sponsors Webstar, NZ Post, PMP, ICG, Gordon & Gotch, BJ Ball, Nielsen, Netlink, Getty Images, Solution Dynamics, PressReader, Action HQ, and iSubscribe

  • At press time, the MPA had yet to post the results on their website (www.mpa.org.nz) but you can access the full list here.
