AUCKLAND, Today: Mark Ritson’s polarising views and spirited presentation style have made him infamous in the marketing world, according to the blurb on the Comms Council’s latest event.

“Ritson (says the release) is unapologetic in his brand-first approach to marketing and controversial perspective on channel mix, and how marketers can impact the bottom line.”

Ritson will be covering the main drivers of effective marketing in a one-hour presentation at Crowne Plaza, Auckland on Thursday 20 February, organised by the Comms Council in association with Bauer Media.

“It’s an ambitious presentation – to cover the big lessons in marketing effectiveness in one hour, but if anyone can do it, it’s Mark Ritson” said Comms Council ceo Paul Head.

Ritson is widely acknowledged as one of the world’s best marketing instructors and is currently adjunct professor of marketing at the Melbourne Business School.

“It’s an ambitious presentation – to cover the big lessons in marketing effectiveness in one hour, but if anyone can do it, it’s Mark Ritson.”

He has worked extensively all over the world for clients that have included PepsiCo, Subaru, Westpac, Shiseido, Flight Centre, Johnson & Johnson, Ericsson, Unilever, and KPMG.

“Ritson’s weekly columns for The Australian and Marketing Week have garnered him a cult following and multiple awards,” Head said.

In 2018 he was rated one of the Power 50 most important people in media by AdNews, and is one of 10 top business thinkers in Australia by Smart Company, and recognised by the AMI with the Sir Charles McGrath Award, the highest honour for marketing in Australia.

Bauer MD Kaylene Hurley said: “Mark’s name is synonymous with cutting-edge thinking and he isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo in the name of what’s best for the industry. There is synergy between Mark’s brand-building discourse and what we do at Bauer.

“We help brands be found, heard and understood. Magazines have a stronger influence than any other media, which helps transform our audiences into customers for our clients. It’s our pleasure to be associated with this event and Mark’s teaching.”
