AUCKLAND, Today: RUN Aotearoa has been selected by the Republic of the Marshall Islands to develop a new global tourism identity and brand platform.

The indie agency will help shape how the Marshall Islands presents itself to the world, with a focus on creating a brand that feels authentic, culturally grounded and internationally engaging.

RUN brings experience working with destinations across Aotearoa New Zealand and the Pacific, combining strategy-led thinking with storytelling that reflects each place’s culture, traditions and character.

The project is a major step in positioning the Marshall Islands as a tourism destination on the global stage.

“It’s a dream to have the opportunity to build a brand for a country. We feel privileged to be able to spend time with the Marshallese people and to hear their stories. We hope to share the Marshall Islands narrative in a way that honours its people, culture and environment” – Laura Cibilich and Raymond Otene McKay, RUN Aotearoa Co-Founders

An in-market visit is planned to support research, photography and film production, with community engagement playing a central role in shaping the final brand platform.

“It’s a dream to have the opportunity to build a brand for a country. We feel privileged to be able to spend time with the Marshallese people and to hear their stories.

“We hope to share the Marshall Islands narrative in a way that honours its people, culture and environment”, said Laura Cibilich and Raymond Otene McKay, RUN Aotearoa Co-Founders.

The initiative is supported by funding from the U.S. Economic Development Administration, helping grow the Marshall Islands’ tourism sector and strengthen its global positioning.

The appointment follows RUN Aotearoa’s recent selection to lead a Pacific-wide campaign to phase out single-use plastics in tourism.

That campaign is being delivered with the Pacific Tourism Organisation and the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme.

The partnership reflects a shared ambition to build an authentic, lasting brand that invites the world to experience the Marshall Islands.
