New Zealand’s largest indie media agency MBM has made significant changes, drawing on expertise and performance from within to cement in place a new-look, five-strong management team.

“The change is in response to six years of strong business growth,” says MD Sean McCready.

He says MBM now has more than 50 staff and 40 clients across two offices in Auckland and Wellington, and needed to lighten the load on the three directors – Matt Bale, Alysha Delany himself.

“So,” he says, “we have appointed five new senior executives to the management team.”

Deborah Brown has been with MBM since day one and has been promoted to client service director. Penelope Burns joined MBM from OMD in 2016 and is now also a client service director. Annabelle Wilkinson has been promoted to general manager Wellington – acknowledging the strong relationships she has cultivated in the Capital.

Anna Woods joined MBM from PHDiQ in 2015 as senior digital director to lead MBM’s digital media efforts, while Chris Carter now heads MBM’s analytics & data science team, having joined MBM in 2016 from a large e-commerce company in USA.

“The media agency model is evolving rapidly,” McCready says. “We wanted to bring a diversity of outlook, experience and skills to the management table to help shape our future. With our rapid expansion and business growth we’ve addressed the need for a wider management structure – giving our team the benefit of increased strategic and operational support.

“At the heart of the change is the fact that we have both sought and retained the best senior talent to keep delivering successful communications and media technology solutions for our clients”.

He says the new management team is now in place and has been met with positive feedback from clients and industry partners.
